Purchased a Windows 10 Pro product key for $10.14 yesterday from URcdkey!? It’s an OEM product key which means only on one computer. As mentioned on the *Karmi’s Daily Blog Log* page, the past couple of days, I have been building a new mini-ITX computer to replace the now retired ‘Antec Sr.’ computer. That WIN10 Pro product key for $10.14 is already on the old PNY 240GB SSD that was in ‘Antec Sr.’ – tested ‘n activated on the build’s new MoBo using my homemade computer Test Bench.

Since humble me basically gutted poor old ‘Antec Sr.’ for PSU, 16GB of memory ‘n misc components perhaps I should refer to it as deceased instead of “retired.”  😉  Matching my 16GBs of G.SKILL memory to a compatible AMD MoBo took some research ‘n time, but finally found the right one for this build.

Am now waiting for the case to arrive so I can just drop in the now fully assembled ‘n tested MoBo. I un-retired the AMD Ryzen™ 5 3400G APU ‘n stuck it and the stock fan-cooler on it already. Used a spare Low-Noise Adapter to quiet down the loud AMD fan, so it’s very quiet now. BTW, it also required MoBo compatibility research since there are other versions of this APU – which I didn’t know about.

In my 5/29/2020 Windows 10 May 2020 Update – ‘3-5+ ways to do it (e.g. buy WIN10 PRO OEM Key for $16.77)’ post I explain how to get a Windows 10 Pro OEM product key, how to download a Windows 10 ISO and/or how to have them create a WIN10 Pro USB installation media online for you – Start Here. Just install it first, without internet, and then Activate Windows by using that OEM product key after you install it. If you want to add an account, sync everything, if you want to talk to ‘Cortana’ then add those later, etc., IMHO. Well, install it how you want, tho I suggest doing so w/o internet…

Yesterday was a busy day. My ordered 1-fan Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 GV-N105TD5-4GD PCI-E Video Card HDMI DVI didn’t arrive; however, the not ordered 2-fan Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC 4GB GDDR5 128 Bit PCI-E Graphic Card (GV-N105TOC-4GD) did!?! Mistake was probably caused by forcing employees to wear masks all day at work, i.e. limiting the supply of oxygen to the brain. Anyway, some builds require careful research ‘n measuring for space in order to get the component to fit, so a 2-fan’er may be bigger than a 1-fan’er. However, this time, it’s just an over-priced entry level discrete GPU that will stay in ‘Rose’ or get tossed in shed if I ever do a major upgrade to ‘Rose’.

As mentioned in the GPU’s, Covid-19 ‘n Chinese GPU miners post, prices on GPU’s have sky-rocketed ‘n the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti single fan was $139 not too long ago. I paid $239.95, but ended up with the 2-fan version. They are an entry level GPU that are supposedly energy efficient and have no power supply connector…get their power from the PCIe bus. Tested it in ‘Rose’ last night ‘n it doubled the gaming benchmark of the i7-8700’s Intel® UHD Graphics 630…i.e. from terrible to just bad.  😉  Anyway, plenty good for ‘Desktop Duty’ ‘n the Linux Distros I have tested on it seem to really like it…as in it was easy for Fedora 33 to add the new Nvidia driver. Will test CentOS Stream later…it has problems with installing actual Nvidia drivers, too often it seems, IMHO.
