I have 5 computers running Windows 10 Pro. A laptop running Windows 10 Home. I have 3 Puppy Linuxes on USB’s, 3 Fedora 33 Cinnamon Spin Linuxes on USB’s, 2 AlmaLinux OS Linuxes on USB’s, 2 CentOS Stream Linuxes on USB’s – *ALL* of those Linuxes on USB’s can run on any of the mentioned 5 computers plus that laptop. I have a Flip Phone running Android 8.1.0. Have a HP Chromebook – 14a-na0023cl running Chrome OS. Have a converted Chromebook, Samsung Chromebook Plus (V2) XE521QAB-K01US, running a dual-boot of CloudReady OS & Fedora 34 Cinnamon Spin. I think that’s it – w/o counting anything in the remote storage shed.

How many ‘Different’ OSes am I running?

  • 1) Windows 10 (is counted as ONE OS).
  • 2) Android (proprietary OS w/ modified Linux kernel).
  • 3) Chrome OS (Ditto on the proprietary OS – but – w/ modified ‘sOmEtHiNg’).
  • 4) Linux (is counted as ONE OS – that includes Puppy, Fedora, AlmaLinux, CentOS Stream & CloudyReady).

OK…that’s Four OSes, and I suspect that most people run at least Two OSes.

 

‘Dat durn Cloud…AGAIN!?!

 

Keep saying that I need to learn more about ‘Dat durn Cloud, but for some reason I keep avoiding it!? Now I find this (3 days after the news is out on it) – Windows 365 Cloud PC:

What is hybrid work?

Hybrid work has many variations. Some companies might allow every employee the flexibility to work on-site and remotely part of the week. Other companies might have employees working either full-time remote or full-time on-site. And others might allow a combo of the two.

I spent many years as a criminal, committing a variety of Hybrid Crimes, so humble me fully understands the need to be flexible when working. For example, Armed Robbery needs to be a quick in ‘n out crime, whereas Growing Marijuana is more than likely going to be a yearlong crime.

‘Dat durn Cloud looks like some kind of Hybrid Crime Paradise, if you ask me, which may be one of the reasons I keep avoiding it.  😉

I’m running four OSes now, and most seem to have at least some connection/s to ‘Da Cloud/s. I uninstall most if not all the Windows 10 Cloud connections. Chrome OS ‘n CloudReady OS are still very new to me, but both have strong Cloud connections that I uninstall or ignore. I only use the phone for talking on. Linux I use for Portability and/or Rescue and/or Testing…knowing the Linux “Desktop” as I do, Cloud connections are probably just something else that doesn’t work…other than on CloudReady OS Linux.

Could Cloud PCs be Microsoft’s gateway to Chromebook-like hardware

snip … But what if you stretched that idea a bit by taking Microsoft 365 with Office apps and threw it onto a low-cost PC and used the Edge browser as your primary way of interacting with the computer? Now you have something that could compete directly with a Chromebook-style computer.

The writers are all speculating on what Windows 365 is going to be or going to do…they all might know even less than I do about ‘Dat durn Cloud!!!  😉
