Looking for a great deal on a Linux laptop? Candace Gillhoolley, of Kubuntu Focus, just gave me a ‘Tip‘ that Kubuntu Focus is “closing out 2021 sales” and they are offering some excellent Laptop bargains.
I’m gonna get right into my two favorite systems, before they’re gone!
Focus XE: Potent Portable
The Focus XE starts at $895, ‘Ground shipping is free within the US and Canada‘ and I believe there are no State sales taxes outside of California. That’s wid an Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7 CPU, 8 GB 3200 memory, and a Samsung 3500 MBps 250 GB NVMe.
That’s a powerful little Laptop that is loaded wid extra ports:
I upped the memory to 16 GBs 3200 Dual Channel for just $75 = $970.00.
Up CPU to an Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 (12M Cache, up to 4.70 GHz) CPU for $140 = $1,110.00.
250 GBs NVMe is plenty big for most home users…I have Windows 11 Pro on some computers that have just a 120 GB SSD.
OK…next!
Focus M2 Gen 2
Want a powerhouse Lappy that can be used for most anything from a Workstation, to a Gaming computer, to just a super powerful home laptop at a bargain price?! The Focus M2 Gen 2 is on sale for just … hold on ‘n check some specs first:
Durn! Intel® Core™ i7-10870H (16M Cache, up to 5.00 GHz) CPU! 16 GBs 2933 Dual Channel memory! NVIDIA RTX 3060 3840c ?!? OK, I don’t know anything about Laptop dGPU’s, but this one looks like a winner to me! 😉
OK…next the price:
$1,595.00 for a Lappy setup like that is a great price, IMHO.
Conclusion
I don’t have all the info on their hardware, but they are linked to/wid Tuxedo computers, which is a reliable company for Linux laptops. Looks like Kubuntu Focus might be ‘Building‘ their own now, but I don’t know a lot about Barebone laptops. Maybe a connection to the Sager/CLEVO barebones, but I don’t know. Maybe Clevo? All trustworthy, from my research.
Kubuntu Linux is the Ubuntu KDE Plasma flavor, which I installed and tested again last night. Really user friendly, and was very easy to move around in, which isn’t always easy to do wid some Distro’s KDE versions. However, as my readers know, I don’t use Linux ‘Nanny‘ controlled Linux Distros wid ‘Pesky Passwords’ or annoying “Authenticate” popup/s…and most all do. Other than that, Kubuntu is a great Linux OS wid the full backing of Ubuntu behind them.
